![]() ![]() During the course of dissection, we encountered a total knee arthroplasty and a total shoulder arthroplasty. 18 The common sports injuries we depicted with these plastinated specimens included knee injuries (ie, third-degree sprains of the anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, and medial collateral ligament), ankle injuries (ie, pseudo-Jones fracture and peroneal tendon subluxation), a shoulder injury (ie, glenohumeral joint dislocation), an elbow injury (ie, third-degree ulnar collateral ligament sprain), and hand/finger injuries (ie, mallet finger and boutonniere deformity). We then plastinated dissected specimens using a silicone room temperature method. We removed articular joints from fixed cadavers and carefully dissected the structures to replicate common sports injuries.
